Employers - FAQs
Getting Started
Q: How do I get started with Labor Finders?
A: Getting started is easy. Contact your local Labor Finders branch or submit a staffing request online. A local staffing specialist will reach out to discuss your workforce needs, set up your account, and get workers on-site. Sometimes the same day as you call.
Q: How do I find my local Labor Finders office?
A: Use our Office Locator and enter your zip code to find the branch nearest you. With nearly 200 locations across 25 states, there’s likely a local team ready to serve your area today.
Q: How quickly can you send workers to my job site?
A: In many cases, we can fulfill a staffing request the same day you call. Our local branches maintain an active pool or pre-screened, ready-to-work employees so we can respond when you need it most – even for last-minute callouts or unexpected project surges.
Q: Is there a minimum number of workers I have to request?
A: No minimum. Whether you need one worker for a single shift or a crew of 10 for an extended project. Labor Finders scales to your exact needs. Just tell your local branch what you need and when.
Q: Do I need to sign a long-term contract?
A: No long-term contracts are required. You request workers when you need them and only pay for the hours worked. This gives you the flexibility to scale your workforce up or down without the commitment of a traditional hire.
Staffing Services
Q: What types of staffing services does Labor Finders offer?
A:
- General Labor Staffing:
- Temp-to-Hire: try a worker on assignment before making a permanent offer, reducing hiring risk.
- Skilled Trades Staffing: carpenters, welders, electricians, and other tradespeople for specialized projects
Not sure which fits your situation? Talk to your local branch and we'll recommend the right approach.
Q: Which industries does Labor Finders staff?
A: Our staffing expertise spans construction, manufacturing, light industrial, hospitality, landscaping, retail, and more. Visit our Employer Industries page for a full list. Available skill sets vary by location, so contact your local branch to confirm what's available.
Q: Can I hire a temporary worker permanently?
A: Yes. Our Temp-to-Hire service is designed exactly for this. You bring a worker on as a temporary employee, evaluate performance on the job, and then have the option to bring them on full-time. It's a smart, low-risk way to grow your team.
Workers & Screening
Q: How does Labor Finders screen workers before sending them to my site?
A: Every worker goes through our pre-employment screening process before being placed. This includes application review, an in-branch interview to verify skills and work history, and employment eligibility verification as required by Form I-9.
Q: Are the workers Labor Finders employees or my employees?
A: They are W-2 employees of Labor Finders. We handle all employment responsibilities - payroll, taxes, workers' compensation, and benefits administration. You direct their daily work on-site, but Labor Finders remains the employer of record. This remove a significant administrative and legal burden from your business.
Q: What if a worker isn't a good fit for my needs?
A: Simply contact your local Labor Finders branch and let us know. We will work to send a replacement as quickly as possible. Our goal is to get the right person on your job - if the placement isn't working, we will make it right.
Q: Are workers safety-trained before placement?
A: Workers are oriented on general safety expectations as part of the onboarding process. For site-specific safety requirements (OSHA certifications, PPE standards, equipment operations), let your branch know what's required and they will do their best to match you with workers who meet those standards or arrange appropriate training.
Billing & Costs
Q: How does billing work - what does my rate include?
A: You pay a single flat hourly bill rate. That rate covers the workers' wages, payroll taxes, workers' compensation insurance, unemployment insurance, and our administrative costs. There are no hidden fees.
Q: Am I liable for workers' compensation if a worker is injured?
A: Labor Finders carries workers' compensation coverage for all placed employees. Because the workers are on our payroll as our W-2 employees, we administer workers' comp claims on your behalf. You are not responsible for managing injury claims for our placed workers, which reduces your business's liability exposure.
Q: Does Labor Finders handle payroll and taxes for workers?
A: Yes. As the employer of record, Labor Finders handles all payroll processing, federal and state tax withholdings, Social Security contributions, unemployment insurance, and ll related tax filings. You simply pay the agreed bill rate and let us handle the rest.
Q: When and how do I receive my invoice?
A: Your local Labor Finders branch will walk through billing terms when you set up your account. Invoicing frequency and payment terms are discussed and agreed upon upfront, so there are no surprises. Contact your branch directly for specifics on how billing is structured for your account.
Managing Workers
Q: Who directs the day-to-day work of the placed employees?
A: You do. While Labor Finders is the employer of record, you supervise and direct workers' daily tasks on your job site. Think of it as a co-management model: you control the work and we handle the employment side.
Q: How are workers hours tracked?
A: Your Local branch will set up a timekeeping process that works for your operation - this may include paper timesheets, digital time entry, or coordination through your existing site management system. Accurate timekeeping helps ensure payroll and invoicing are processed correctly each cycle.
Q: Can I request the same workers for ongoing assignments?
A: Yes, and we encourage it! When you find workers who are a good match for your site, let your branch know and we will do our best to prioritize those individuals for future assignments. If a longer-term arrangement is right for you, ask about our Temp-to-Hire option.
Q: How do I place a staffing order once my account is set up?
A: You can submit a staffing request online or call your local branch directly. For urgent needs, a phone call is often the fastest path.
Compliance & Legal
Q: Does Labor Finders verify employment eligibility?
A: Yes. As the employer of record and in accordance with the USCIS, Labor Finders completes Form I-9 for every employee, and we comply with all federal requirements. We also use E-Verify for all employees to confirm identity and authorization to work in the United States.
Q: Who is responsible for compliance with local wage and labor laws?
A: As the employer of record, Labor Finders is responsible for complying with federal, state and local wage and hour laws for all employees on our payroll, including minimum wage, overtime, and applicable leave requirements.
